Grade 1 and 2: A Child's Perspective
Immerse yourself and discover what life was like for a child during pioneer times.  Bring your lunch in a tin pail, use a slate in the one-room school, explore the buildings in an early community,  and engage in hands-on heritage activities such as washing clothes on a scrub-board, playing marbles, or creating an autograph book.

Program length: Half-day to 5 days

Grade 3: Sodbusters and Cabin Builders
How did those early prairie-dwellers build their first homes?  Explore archival photos and spend time in a real soddy and a log cabin.  Become a homesteader as you build a model log cabin, make butter, wash clothes with a scrub-board or make a simple wooden toy.

Program length: Half day to 2 days

Grade 4: Wheels, Levers, Gears, and Pulleys
Handle artifacts and discover how the simple tools of yesteryear have evolved to become the machines of today.  Participate in a scavenger hunt as you use your eyes to find more examples of these simple machines in our museum collection.

Program length: Half day or full day

Grade 4 and 5: Colorful Characters
Meet the colorful characters who settled and shaped this corner of the province.  Conduct archival research, build a board game to cement your new learning, or participate in hands-on heritage activities such as cooking bannock over a fire, tying knots, soaping a saddle,  braiding a small rug, or making your own journal.

Program length: Half day to 3 days

Grade 6: Small Town Prairie Politics
Discover the issues in an early prairie town as you trade your identity and become an actual citizen of Pincher Creek.  Experience the civic process as you look at the issues. Take part in an election day, complete with speech-making from our balcony, lemonade and bunting.  Meet with your new council and discuss solutions to pioneer problems.

Program length: Full day to 2 days
